About The Event
Join the New York Carolina Club as it hosts a free virtual event with Suzanne Weerts ’88 discussing her engaging collection of stories Champagne Girl in a Budweiser Family about growing up in a Southern town in the 1970’s. Based in the Los Angeles area, Suzanne is a writing teacher, producer, nonprofit fundraiser, and community activist whose work can be found in several anthologies, magazines, and online publications including The Sun and Good Old Days.
Hosting the discussion is Emmy Award-nominated and SAG Award-winning actress Sharon Lawrence ’83. She has graced the screens in shows such as NYPD Blue, Shameless, and Grey’s Anatomy among others. In 2024 she earned the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sharon will star in Steel Magnolias for UNC's Playmakers Rep Company April 8-26 in Chapel Hill. https://playmakersrep.org/show/steel-magnolias-2/.
