About The Event
Tune in to the YouTube recording of this virtual event hosted by the New York Carolina Club in January 2026 when Suzanne Weerts ’88 discussed her collection of stories, Champagne Girl in a Budweiser Family, with Emmy Award-nominated and SAG Award-winning actress Sharon Lawrence ’83. The two friends reflect on growing up in North Carolina in the 70's and 80's, nostalgia for a simpler time, the challenges facing young girls then and now, and how the South and Chapel Hill shaped them, PLUS they both read a story from the Suzanne's book.
Sharon Lawrence has graced the screens in shows such as NYPD Blue, Shameless, and Grey’s Anatomy among others. In 2024 she earned the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
